Books I Think You Should Read

Powerful Teaching by Pooja K Agarwal, Ph. D. and Patrice M. Bain, Ed.S

There are so many great little nuggets of information in this book.  Many students don't know how to study...many adults too, and I feel that this book addresses that topic head on.  Check it out!

This book is a quick read about helping students (and yourself) overcome a fixed mindset.  All people are capable of learning, changing, and growing.

This book helped me to be a better educator.  It taught me how to listen to my students and determine what their needs are.  Every year we do the perspective activity with the young and old lady and it's always an eye opener.  I've also gained perspective on the use of my prep time.  I rarely spend time in quadrant II during prep, but after reading this book, I'll be sure to pencil that in.  Although this book it not specifically aimed at educators, it doesn't matter, interacting with people is everywhere and in order to be a great teacher, you need to be able to interact with people.

This book was a great lesson in not judging people.  This is a very inspirational true story.  Do yourself a favor and read this book.
